I bought the acer before xmas and i think its windows 8, but im on the old laptop now to you.

Your dealing with an inexperienced person here, sorry, but from what i can remember it was in the control panel?

Thanks Ber
Can you go to the control Panel, then click on Device Manager
There in the list you should see the touchpad. It will have a X next to it indicating it is disabled.
Right click and enable it again and it should then function.
I can also do these steps , and have made a request via Additional Services. This is optional, and if you choose to do this, I can, with your permission, remote into your computer while you watch and do all these steps (and deal with any problems that arise during them) . Or if you do not choose to take this service, we can continue here. This is no problem at all. Just let me know please.
Let me know the results please

Click on Download in the top right.
Go down to "TeamViewer Quicksupport"
Click on Download and download and run the program.
It will give you an ID and a Password.
Please give me the ID (leave a space between each character eg: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9) and the password ***** your next message to me here.
Do not close the program, but leave it open.

The battery has just died on the old laptop, and it wont charge, im on my mobile.

.can i phone you directly ?

Im not able to be called sorry, but we need the laptop powered on to fix this anyway.
It will likely be charging but as it is completely flat, may take some time.
Wait 10 minutes, then try to turn it on.
Let me know when it is please.
