JA: Hello. How can I help?
Customer: I have Toshiba laptop Satellite L50D-C-PSKXJE-OOPOOLEN. The two USB ports on the right hand side have stopped working, so can only attach items through left side port. Any ideas what's causing this?
JA: How old is your Toshiba appliance?
Customer: About 3 years old. Bought from ***** ***** 2016.
JA: How long has this been going on with your Toshiba appliance? What have you tried so far?
Customer: They were working last week. I had a USB hub with my peripherals, keyboard, mouse, etc, working through right port. Then on Monday when I went to work on laptop, there was no life in peripherals. Eventually, by process of elimination, discovered it was laptop port that was problem, not the hub.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: No, that's it.

Hi, Rosanne. First, remove your battery. Then, hold down the power button for 30 seconds or so. This discharges the capacitors and should get them working again. Let me know once done.

My laptop back cover, which contains the battery, needs to be completely removed to get at the battery. Toshiba recommends only qualified technicians should do this, so I won’t be attempting it. I’ll just manage with the left side USB port until next time my computer repair man needs to visit.
