Expert:  jhannell replied 16 days ago.

Hello sir/madam,

Are you currently using the computer in question?

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
I am
Expert:  jhannell replied 16 days ago.

Would you like to gain space on your harddisk?

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
I would
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
I just want advice on what to get to increase its capacity
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

What is your current harddisk capacity?

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
250gb
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

Would you like to install an internal or external harddisk?

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Internal
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
It says
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

You will need a 2.5 inch SATA harddisk.

For example:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-SATA-Hard-Drive/dp/B079BQS5WQ

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Is there any consideration for quality in terms of for gaming etc
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

This is a quality product and it will be a good addition for your MSI computer.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
This is what it says on msis website:
STORAGE CAPABILITY
1x M.2 SSD Combo slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA)
1x 2.5" SATA HDD
The second part is as you said. Is the 1st part what it currently has?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
also how will it work alongside? Will it be in a separate partition?
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

Yes, yours is SSD 250 GB. (0,25 TB)

This one is SATA 2 TB

It will be a separate drive. Your computer will see it as a E: or F: drive.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
How do you use separate drives? Is there anything different to normal
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

It will be another drive linked to your computer.

When you open your THIS PC section, you will be able to see your drive as E:\ or F:\.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Does it matter which one a save stuff too? Is there any difference? In accessing ect
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

There is no difference. You can save your files to any drive you want.

But it is recommended for you to use your new drive to save the files to because your primary drive contains your operating system.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
you want to keep your operating system separate in the original drive to the bulk of other stuff I have on my laptop is what your saying?
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

Yes.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
what would you recommend to back my stuff too?
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

If you need more space, you can buy a 5-TB external unit like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-PlayStation-STGX4000400/dp/B07VS8QCXC

You just need to connect it to your computer through the USB port.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Just need it to back up my stuff too for security
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
In case anything happened
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

So an external harddisk will be a good idea

You just need to connect it through the USB port.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Can you use the external unit above for the ps4 as well as?
Expert:  jhannell replied 15 days ago.

Yes, it is possible.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Is it easy to do? As simple as plugging it in or does it involve more
Expert:  jhannell replied 14 days ago.

It is easy.

It is plug and play, that means you just need to connect it through the USB port.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
With ps4 too? And can you use the same external storage between both laptop and ps4?
Expert:  jhannell replied 14 days ago.

Yes.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Also my laptop currently has the storege partitioned into a c drive and d drive, is there a way of merging them?
Expert:  jhannell replied 14 days ago.

Yes. We just need to go to DISK MANAGEMENT and then select the SHRINK VOLUME option.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Think I previously tried deleting Partition drive d so on disk management it comes up with windows c and then unallocated. How do I allocate the unallocated to drive c
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Also comes up with 3 others: EFI System Partition, Recovery Partiton, and again, recovery partition. Assume they are fine and to leave them alone. Equate to about 19gb collectively.
Expert:  jhannell replied 14 days ago.

We need to leave them as they are.

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
But how do i allocate storege not allocated to any drive?
Expert:  jhannell replied 12 days ago.

Can you please take a screenshot of your screen and then send it to me?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Are you able to send pictures on this? Not sure how
Expert:  jhannell replied 10 days ago.

Are you in Disk Management now?

Customer: replied 10 days ago.
I am now
