My property along with approximately 10 others abutts a lane

Customer Question

My property along with approximately 10 others abutts a lane with no known owner. The lane was previously designated a "footpath". Can I register an entitlement of freehold ownership as a frontager up to the halfway point of the road.
We have and do maintain the section of lane referred to.
I was advised that the "ad medium filum viae" principle could be applied using "caution against first registration" but it has been rejected by Land Registry as our claim, in their opinion amounts to a "presumption" and "presuimptions" can be rebutted.
