Can you help me, I have been told that I have made a misrepresentation

Customer Question

Can you help me, I have been told that I have made a misrepresentation and am going to be sued because the client has lost money, about two years ago I meet a client and gave him some information about a property investment, the clients knew was acting as an agent and I gave them information about the investment such as cost and rental yield, unfortunately the development went bust after they had completed. There claim is that they had purchased the property because I had said I was buying one, this statement is not true untrue, what happened was that after my factual presentation and during a general chit chat over a coup of tea I was asked a question, ‘Are you buying one?’ and in reply I said that I was hoping to buy or planned to buy, It was not said in anyway to influence them but as a straight answer to a straight question, surly this is not misrepresentation? can you advise

Hello, I am Law Denning and I am a practising solicitor in a High Street practice. I have been an expert on this website in UK law since 2008. During that time, as you appreciate, I have answered thousands of questions from satisfied users on a variety of subjects. Because we are all in practice with clients and court and other users, I might not always respond in minutes, particularly evenings and weekends. Please bear with me in that case

It is my pleasure to try and assist you with this today. Please bear with me
while I gather some further information from you in order for me to be able to
advise you fully.

Unless I have all the facts that I need, my answer would not be accurate.
