Customer Question

We have lived together for 20 years and now decided to marry. Lots of property and accounts are in our separate names and our business is in my proposed wife's name. Can she legally continue to use her maiden name after marriage and how would it affect inheritance between us?

Thank you for your question and welcome.

My name is AJ and I will assist you.

There is no obligation on your wife to change her name legally or otherwise. She is free to use her maiden name. Also you will be married and will have a marriage certificate therefore there will be no affect to your rights to inheritance as between an man and wife.

Do you have any other questions regarding this point?
