When we were told that we were going to be made redundant a consultation document was given to us all outlining the process and dates of each stage the final date was stated as 02/01/14 for the outcome. can the come bring the answer date forward if some in the group wish for a quicker answer and if that happens does it bring forward the redundancy notice date.

Ben Jones :

Hello again, do you know how many people are being made redundant in total?

Customer:

There are 10 involved 6 will be reemployed with a different job description so a minimum of 4 there are 3 taking voluntary redundancy at the moment

Ben Jones :

ok well as there are less than 20 redundancies being proposed there is no legal requirement for a minimum duration of any consultation period. this means that whilst the employer has currently proposed an end date of 2 Jan, if they manage to finish everything beforehand and still conduct a reasonable consultation, they can end the consultation early and proceed with the redundancy procedure

Ben Jones :

So this is not a definitive end date

Customer:

thanks for the information

Ben Jones :

You're welcome
