Sir/Madam, I have been on the housing application list for

Customer Question

I have been on the housing application list for Bexley Council since 2006. I have lived out
of the Borough and returned 8 months ago. I did not apply for housing elsewhere.
I have been bidding for properties for the last 2 years. I was on a lower band when i was
out of the Borough.
Bexley changed their policy recently making a requirement to have lived continouesly in the
Borough for 2 years and took me off the list.
Also there must have been a number of applicants on the list who were just days or weeks short of 2 years, having their application wiped off.
I would like to complain/appeal against their decision for i understand if they had to ask
the new applicants to have lived here for 2 years, and that the previously applied people
may have to wait longer due to shortage of housing.
I would like to base my appeal on a sound legal reason for i feel it was not right the way
they did it.
Also on the councils web site complain procedures says that some complaints may be
forwarded to the local MP or councillor. Should i approach the local MP straightaway?
Many thanks

Hello my name is Alex and I will help you with this. Please note that I am a working Solicitor and may be on and offline as I have to attend Court and meet with clients, even at weekends. As such you may not get an instant response when you reply as this is not an ‘on demand’ live service, but rest assured I will be giving your question my immediate attention upon return. There is no need to wait here, you will get an email when I reply.

Have you complained to the Council at all please?
