In november2012, I purchased a computer. It had not been set up correctly by the manufacturer and suffered an escalating series of problems including a Rootkit infection.
An AVG report said: "Your system Drive (installed by the manufacturer prior to despatch)
in the Local Disk, has never been checked for file system errors.
Errors on your System Drive can cause error messages and crashes as well as partial or complete loss of files"
In my experience this a conservative estimate.
Since purchase, I have spent most of my time on the PC trying to eliminate the infection.
I have never been able to use this machine for the purpose that I bought it.
Today, it finally died, it was no longer possible even to switch it on.
I asked the manufacturer if they would provide me with a new PC. They declined , saying it was out of warranty. However, I do not know how long their warranty lasts.
I'm probably too late.
