Customer Question

I was stopped by the police this morning due to the fact I was not displaying a rear trade plate in a unlicened vehicle owned by my company, the police in formed me that my licence had expired and that the vehicle was not insured, I explained to the police that I had no idea that my licence had expired and was a meer oversight on my behalf and that the vehicle was covered on my employers trade insurance policy which our company operates so the vehicle was insured. The owner of the attended the scene as I phoned and told him what had accurred and that the police where impounding the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle asked the officers if he could drive vehicle back to our premises where it was going in the first place but they refused and impounded the vehicle.
Are the officers correct to impound the vehicle as the owner of the vehicle was at the scene and produced his licence and was going to drive the vehicle.
