yes,thats right-mainly concerning films books and dvds.
Then there is only one way of doing it - you need permission
If you do not have permission then you would be passing off.
This means you could be sued and have to pay damages.
Therefore the ONLY way forward is to seek permission from the owner of the copyright
If they refuse there is nothing you can do
If you just want to quote a small passage you can do that without permission, but you need to reference and credit the source.
Otherwise you need permission
