A recent house purchase completed 12/12/13-solicitor did not

This answer was rated:

A recent house purchase completed 12/12/13-solicitor did not find a major building project about eight metres drastically affecting property. I would not have bought if I had known and it is certain that planning consent will be granted as it was given the O.K in 2006. I thought this is what we paid a solicitor for ?

Yes, this would have been picked up on any searches carried out by the solicitor with the local authority which is quite normal in conveyancing matters.

I would suggest that you discuss this issue with your solicitor and see what they have to say as I have a feeling they have been negligent here and you may go through their complaints procedure and if that is not helpful, you may take the matter to the Legal Ombudsman Service

Hope this helps
