Customer Question

I am thinking about getting divorced from my wife (haven't started proceedings as yet), should I close down our joint account and transfer all direct debits, including mortgage and her personal expenses to my new personal account.

Is there any money in the joint account?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

no money in the joint account, have ensured that it has managed to a minimal level paying off debts. Just found out today that she has an ISA tied to the account so couldn't close it down anyway, however should I transfer the dircet debits into the new account - will it impact me in any way?

In that case it may be advisable to leave the direct debits with the joint account rather than transferring them to your personal account.

Hope this helps
