Customer Question

An item was sold by myself on ebay. The price was agreed and the item sent off in good faith. Prior to the sending of the item there was correspondence via text messages regarding addresses to send the item to etc. Having been paid I sent the item off to the work address that I was given. A week or so later I was informed by paypal that they were taking the £400+ money back from me as the person I had been dealing with had had her account hacked into via ebay.
Paypal informed me that they were acting on her behalf regarding her credit company and i could do nothing other than wait for the verdict. I have been informed today that she is entitled to her money back and that now leaves me with no item and no money, how can this possibly be correct. Is there anywhere I can go to. I am concerned that my account wasn't hacked into it hers was but I appear to be the on who loses out. Can this go further, do ebay have any liability?.

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this. Please note that I am a working Solicitor and may be on and offline as I have to attend Court and meet with clients, even at weekends. As such you may not get an instant response when you reply as this is not an ‘on demand’ live service, but rest assured I will be giving your question my immediate attention upon return. There is no need to wait here, you will get an email when I reply.

I assume you know where this person lives please?

Alex Watts :

Was it sent to the Paypal verified address?

Customer: No she emailed us from her eBay account and asked if we could send it to her work address as it needed to be signed for and she wouldn't be in during the day
Customer: Initially she was going to collect the phone as she was in London at the time. As the e-mails came from her eBay xccount we thought it was genuine and we would be protected!

Was it sent to a different name?
