I had a letter from debt collector Daniels Silverman requesting payment of 15000 euros unpaid maintenance. We sold timeshare in
2009 to incentive leisure who have gone out of business What is legal status amd is this a scam?
Thank you for your query.
Daniels Silverman is a genuine debt collector so it is unlikely to be a scam.
You have a few options:
1) pay the money if you agree that you owe it; or
2) you may dispute the debt; or
3) you may ignore the demand from the debt collector and see if they take you to court over it. If they do so, you are free to defend the claim if you do not owe the money.
Debts are usually enforceable for 6 years under the Limitation Act 1980 so personally I would ignore the debt collector and see if they file court action by 2015, I think not.
