I have been summoned by the DVLA regarding a bounced cheque

Customer Question

I have been summoned by the DVLA regarding a bounced cheque in Nov/2012. I have no idea what this is all about so have been in touch with the appropriate authority. I gather from this ( although they have put my name on the summons ) that the guilty person was from Oldham, A place where I have rarely visited, and carried the same name. I have to appear in the magistrates court on the 10th Nov/2014 to answer questions. I am 76yrs old and take heart pills, this is causing me loads of stress. Please can you tell me what positive steps I can take,
Edmund. H. Oates.

Thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I will try to help with this.
For what offence are you summonsed?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Bounced cheque for payment of vehicle in Nov 2012 which now amounts to £625.

This summons has nothing to do with me or with anyone I know

Ok. But what is the offence?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

As far as I can gather it is for non payment of licencing a vehicle in Nov 2012.and not replying to past messages -- of which I have received none.

This is a case of DVLA summonses the wrong person.
