I have recently discovered that my daughter and I were beneficiaries

This answer was rated:

I have recently discovered that my daughter and I were beneficiaries in a Will made by a Aunt who died last August although we have never been informed of this by either of the named Executors.
What is the correct procedure - should we have been informed before now?

Thank you question.

I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
Ha Probate of the Will been obtained?
Have you spoken to the Executors about this?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

We haven't contacted the executors. I think probate has been obtained - we were able to acquire a copy of the will from the registry and only then discovered we had been left some money. Should we not have been informed of this by the executors themselves? I only require advice on this one issue.

How long ago was Probate granted?
(It should be on the paperwork you have received)
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Probate was granted on 30th September, 2014.

Probate was granted on 25th September, 2014.

In that case yes by now you should indeed have received a communication from the Executors confirming your entitlement under the Will - and when you are likely to receive it
I suggest that you write a formal letter to the Executors, asking as to when you can expect to receive your inheritance
However they do have a year within which to make payment - only after that has passed can you claim interest
Please ask if you need further details
