Customer Question

I have been dismissed misconduct. This is because I mistakenly did not forward an invoice and as a result there was court action. This was a genuine oversight on my part.I have never had a warning letter or any other indication that my work was not satisfactory until this incident and today had to attend a disciplinary meeting after which I was informed that I had been dismissed. Is this fair and is there any point in appealing. I have worked company months without incident until this. My negligence has resulted in the company getting a bad credit rating apparently.Prior to this I had leave cancelled so i would be on hand to run the office in my superiors absence

Thank you question.
You can appeal on the basis of your otherwise good record and ability to carry out your employment properly in the absence of your superior. It appears that they are dismissing you because of the serious effect of the oversight rather than the actual act.
However, if the appeal is unsuccessful you won't be able to go to a tribunal as you don't have two years service. All you can do is appeal to the better nature of your employers.
I hope this helps.
