Customer Question

If a number of clientell have had a verbal agreement in employment with the same company thirty years, can a new boss change it please? they have always had 48 days holiday including bank holidays,he is also telling them they have to work on a rota system every three weeks in the evening to unlock and lock up events, because they live in a tyed cottage but they do not get paid these things are not in there contract.

Thank you question.
A variation of a contract of employment, verbal or written, can only be made if agreed by both parties. So this new manager isn't entitled to come in and change terms and conditions if it's not agreed or unless there is an existing contractual condition on which he can rely. From what you say there isn't. You should raise a grievance with the employer.
I hope this helps. Happy to discuss further.

Thankyou we are sending a letter Monday,he has sent a letter to say that they can have forty days, including bank holidays, and also they can only take them in school holidays, which we never had to do before,,Sorry can you reiterate if that is the word on the conditions of the house being tyed we do not pay rent or council tax,can he make them work on the rota as this is not in there contract, plus at one stage he said they would be paid extra hours but this has never happened,my husband is on a lower wage and this is counteracted as part of,we have lived in the house years,

No he can't irrespective of whether there's a tied house or not.
