Can a Crime Scene Investigator in the UK also arrest and interview

This answer was rated:

Can a Crime Scene Investigator in the UK also arrest and interview suspects in a connected case or is it a conflict of interest?
Thank you question. My name is ***** ***** I will try to help with this.
If he is a police officer then he can make an arrest and act upon it.
The police don't have conflicts of interest. They are just evidence gatherers.
Can I clarify anything ?

If as a C.S.I a forensic exam is undertaken then the same officer is sent to arrest and interview suspects is this ethical as further forensic evidence may arise and I believe a C.S.I is supposed to be neutral.

Thank you

The fact of making an arrest and conducting an interview does not render a police officer biased.

So just to summarise, there is no problem with being a C.S.I and a police officer on the same case.

It depends what you mean by CSI but not reason that you think.
A forensic examiner is not a police officer. They are scientists effectively or medical evidence gatherers. The police cannot do that not reasons really but reasons.
If you mean a SOCO officer then they are police officers and can make arrests.
