Can an inheritor use unclaimed inheritance tax of a person who died much earlier before having to pay this tax? What I meant was i a father died a while ago and then the mother dies - can the unclaimed inheritance tax of £??? be claimed for both the parents when the mother des.

Yes, on the death of the mother the IHT personal allowance is doubled up to a current limit of £650000 as long as the first to die left his entire estate to the second.
