My wife's estate was £244,000 what will my inheritance tax

Customer Question

My wife's estate was £244,000 what will my inheritance tax allowance be?

Nothing, transfers as between husband and wife do not attract inheritance tax.

In any event the tax only kicks in where the esate is over £325,000.00.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Assuming that all her assets passed to you, then the full amount of her Nil Rate allowance will be available to you - doubling the usual allowance.
If in fact all of her assets went elsewhere and used up part of her allowance then provided she died within the last six years then you will be able to add 25% to your Nil rate Band when the time comes.
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
