Customer Question

hi i asked you a couple of weeks ago about the probate of my mothers will in which my neice and nephew wanted to contest it as they thought they should get more than they had been left because my mother had supposedly told them she would leave them comfortable they disputed the will because it was done by a will making company and not a solicitor i had already paid money out of the estate to pay bills etc i sent them their inheritance cheque via their solicitor as have no contact details for them i then recieved a letter from their solicitor saying that i should not have done this because of their dispute today i have had a email from the solicitor saying that they have accepted the money but only as a part payment until they have finished their investigations to get more and that i must promise not to use the money i was left until such time that they are satisfied can they do this

You did the right thing in sending the cheques because it leaves them chasing the balance of whatever they believe their unmeritorious claim is worth.

Whatever your mother said is irrelevant being "comfortable" is a subjective issue anyway and impossible to quantify. I think you have heard the last of this as a legal claim.

I hope this helps. Please reply if there are any further points.

Best wishes
