I am currently in a messy dispute with my ex business

This answer was rated:

I am currently in a messy dispute with my ex business partner, he claims I owe him money for a 'personal loan' but the only money I have had is through the company we were involved in, I am moving out of the country at the end of the month to earn more money as I have a large debt with Tax which is impossible to afford over here so the larger salary abroad will help me paying this. The problem is because my ex business partner is claiming I owe him money he feels I am running away (his exact words) and I have got a horrible feeling he is going to do all he can to stop me leaving such as make a false report to Tax office for one reason or another in the hope that they would stop me leaving whilst carrying out an investigation and in the mean time I would loose my job. my accountant is currently working through my accounts and the only the only problem I have had is a few late filing penalties. Am I looking too far into this or are my worries something that could be reality? Again just to point out I am working abroad for the sole reason to earn more to pay off a large debt and a few various small ones!
Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this.
Is this a partnership or Limited company? How much is owed is he saying?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Limited company , he says I personally owe him 2500, and my company (limited) owes him 7000? I disagree with it
Whats recorded in your loan account?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Nothing, and far as I was concerned I was taking drawings out of the company and I have no access to the company accounts, there was no agreement that there was a loan , my main concern though is this guy falsely accusing me of something to stop me leaving the country, this guy has a tendency to lie to get his way, I have seen it first hand
He can't stop you leaving the country. He just can't do that. He can't stop you resigning from the Company. If you are concerned then you will have a record of your drawings and income. If he submits wrong returns for the Company saying about your Directors loan account then you will have evidence to the contrary.
As long as you have a record of what you have received there will be no issue and you can ignore the threat. He certainly can't stop you leaving the country.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Thanks for that that has put my mind at ease, can anyone stop you leaving the country for debt? Like I said all payments are going to be carried on to the arrangement in place
No one can stop you leaving the country for a debt!
