My child was given a conditional caution last week

This answer was rated:

my child was given a conditional caution last week for causing abusive content to be sent to another child through instagram and bbm. I was given the impression that he would get warning etc of some sort but read this caution will be on police records for 100 years? He has never committed an offence before and the other child has abused him racially several times in the past which was dealt with by the school but her parents decided to go to the police.
He is usually good and calm boy and works very hard to go to university. We are very worried about the effects of this conditional caution on his future. Please help?
Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you.
It will become spent after 3 months but then after that he does not need to declare it. It will be gone as soon as it is completed and he won't need to tell anyone about it.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?

Thank you for your reply.

The police office mentioned something about the caution being on police files for 100years and my son may have to disclose it when he is an adult applying for certain jobs or gets stopped by the police or if it is an enhanced disclosure?

There are different types of checks and in some circumstances it can show up.
For more information please see
But generally most DBS checks don't require the detailed disclosure.

Is there any way to remove this or some sort of filter etc?

There is a filtering list. As long as the offence does NOT show on this list then it will be removed.
Does that clarify?
