I resigned from my job as a social worker after 30 years,

Customer Question

Hi, I resigned from my job as a social worker after 30 years, due to a number of reasons but predominantly ill health. I am now applying for my pension early ( I am 54) on the grounds of ill health, backed by both my doctor, and the specialist I have been seeing. There are comprehensive medical tests to verify my condition; however occupational health have requested from my doctor a diagnosis for all medical conditions; summary of related clinical notes; details of all investigations, treatments and prognosis and copies of specialist reports. My doctor contacted me last week to inform me that this would also include a psychiatirc assessment and treatment I had undergone 18 years ago for PTSD and historical abuse, as well as cannabis misuse at that time. I am very distressed as I do not want the city council to have this information and it is totally irrelevent to the medical condition for which I am claiming early retirement. I want to know if I can with hold this information from them.....and if not, will it predujice my chances having disclosed drug misuse? Will it stop me receiving my pension at all?
