I sold a car and was asked to hold the proceeds in my bank

This answer was rated:

I sold a car and was asked to hold the proceeds in my bank account for a couple of years. I thought nothing of it at the time. But now since their split I have found out it was because of bankruptcy. I assume this is fraud but what effect would this have on me now?
Thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I will try to help with this.
Who asked you to do this?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

My Father-in-law

Are you still holding the funds?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No I gave them back following the money back after the split.

This doesn't amount to fraud.
It just amounts to potentially bankruptcy offences maybe.
It certainly doesn't have any impact upon you. You had no idea why you were being asked to do this and so are not party to any dishonesty.
This is nothing for you to worry about.
