My daughter has a bank account that her fathers parents opened

Customer Question

My daughter has a bank account that her fathers parents opened for her, she has been told that because she does not go and see them she is not allowed the money, is this allowed?
I am concerned that she is not getting her money and for the fact they have an account open in her name too.

I've been working hard to find a Professional to assist you with your question, but sometimes finding the right Professional can take a little longer than expected.
I wonder whether you're ok with continuing to wait for an answer. If you are, please let me know and I will continue my search. If not, feel free to let me know and I will cancel this question for you.
Thank you!

To be very honest I have paid £38 to have the question answered so I will wait for it to be answered. I'm fed up with the grandparents black mailing her just over money, it's not fair.
But thank you for letting me know.

Thank you for your question and welcome. My name is ***** ***** I will assist you.
How old is your daughter?
Does she have the account details?
Was she ever previously told receipt of the money was conditional on her visiting them? Or did this condition arise when she stopped seeing them?
Kind regards
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Hello, she was never told that is was conditional on seeing them, nor what age she could have the money out. She has never been given any account details they have always said that birthday and Christmas they just put money in to it.
I'm sorry I'm just angry that they put it in and now she's not allowed it. It's blackmail and she has missed out on ten years of birthday money and Christmas money!
I feel they have used her for a bank account to not get taxed on. And this is to make my daughter want to see them :(
I hope you can help.

Oh I'm sorry I missed off that she is 16 now.

Thank you.
In order to claim on the money you need to know some more information for example do you know where the bank account is? How much money is in it?
In theory once the gift is made they cannot necessarily with draw it or add conditions but you need to actually find out whether they actually have put the money into an account in her name. Do you have any further information?
Kind regards
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I will try to find out the information, but I'm losing hope for her, they are not keeping in contact with her now, so they have a bank account with her name on it, and 2 or 3 thousand pounds in it.
They won't get taxed on that either will they?
It's just a glorified savings account for them I'm feeling. This is where the law should catch them out :(
