I have completed on a purchase but the tenant has refused to

This answer was rated:

I have completed on a purchase but the tenant has refused to move out after purchase. I did not notify the company there is a sitting tenant as I had hoped I would get eviction before completion as promised by the tenant. Unfortunately, the tenant has defended the claim. There is now a court hearing.
What is the legal consequence of this?

Yes, it was. It was under a compulsory purchase order. The tenant was aware of this when she moved into the property.
