There,I originally came from China and came to the UK

Customer Question

Hi there,
I originally came from China and came to the UK in 2003 as a student. I have since naturalised as a UK citizen in 2010. It came to my attention in 2011 that my dob is incorrect that i was born in 1983 rather than 1981 but i haven't anything about it due to the lack of evidence. I have now obtained some evidence, including for example an entry from the hospital showing that i was born in 1983 instead. I am in the process of getting this changed in the official record in China but the process is long and i am not sure if i would successfully change this. I can however produce a copy of the hospital record (there are no birth certificates in those days in my hometown) and get a letter from both the hospital and also the local government record bureau to show this. What is the chance to get the UK naturalisation certificate changed based on this? is there any other evidence that may require based on your experience?

There is a good chance of getting it amended based on the documents you wish to provide. I would suggest that you also make a statutory declaration saying that to the best of your knowledge, information and belief, your date of birth is xxx and not yyy as stated in your Naturalization Certificate. A solicitor would be able to assist with the statutory declaration.
All the best
