Hi there,
I own a one bedroomed flat in the UK and it has been rented to the same tenant since October 2009, so he has been renting it for 6 years and 2 months.
I am concerned about squatters rights or rights that a tenant might have once they have been renting a property for a certain number of years.
I had heard that a tenant once ended up being allowed to own the flat they rented as they had been there for so many years.
I would like to know the law please in relation to this.
Thank you
Thank you for your question.
My name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you
Please do not worry - t= it does not matter how long the tenant lives there so long as there is a Tenancy agreement in place then the Tenant will not have any claim on the property at all
I suspect that the case you are thinking of had very special circumstances
Please ask if you need further details
