Talk talk sold on my brothers debt, which he did not owe, it

This answer was rated:

talk talk sold on my brothers debt, which he did not owe, it has now been sold on again without any notification sent to my brother other than a phone call from 'regal' to myself saying he must get in contact with them. he did and they say he owes the £200+. They are still charging him for a phone line, number and account that do not exist. He has no land line.
Please help as my brother is suffering chronic depression and i'm worried about him.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
when speaking with talktalk, my brother found they had no record of his name, account number or
landline number at the time.
Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help,you.
What is it you want to achieve?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
to get this company off my brothers back as he does not owe them money
Ok, but they don't have contact with your brother? When was this debt said to have taken place?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
original debt approx. 4 years ago. the only contact they have with him is by ringing me, and ask me to pass on their number, which I did once, and that's when my brother rang them to find out who regal were and what it was all about, otherwise no contact has been made by them. No letters, no emails nothing.
Ok well you don't need to do anything. If you don't tell them anything, they won't know and you are under no legal obligation to do anything at all. You can just ignore them or out the phone down, there is simply nothing they can do.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
