Whats the law on far a tree should be planted near a property and how high should they be before they need to be trim on the height?

Hello, I am a solicitor with 20 years experience. I will try to help you with this.
There is no rule prohibiting where anyone plants a tree on their own land. Nor any rule on heights and trimming.
However if the tree causes damage to neighbouring land then the neighbour would be able to take action against the owner of the land with the tree in nuisance/negligence seeking compensation and possibly an order for the neighbour to take steps to remedy the nuisance.
