I am tenant of 6 months in a first floor one bedroom flat.

Customer Question

I am tenant of 6 months in a first floor one bedroom flat. There is a huge draft coming through the front door which is causing the temperature in the flat to drop to an unacceptable level. To add insult to injury the storage heaters in the flat are also not working properly as they are very old, the flat is permanently freezing cold to the point that my partner and i have to sit under a blanket whilst watching television! The Landlord has been aware of the problem for several weeks and is basically refusing to replace the door until he is ready to do so. A new door would cost around £200, my rent is £475 a month which i have been paying every month without fail to live in a freezing cold flat in winter!! There was also a problem with the shower when we first moved in, it got replaced with a new one which the Landlord paid for however i had to get the quotes for a new one and also had to pay £80 for the installation! Surely this isn't right and the current door and heating situation is simply unacceptable. What can i do about it??
