One of our employees has not given us their contracted notice

Customer Question

one of our employees has not given us their contracted notice of 4 weeks and only give us 1 notice which is going to result in us struggling massively to cover her. would it cost alot to sue an employee in breach of their contract ?

What would replacing this person cost you please?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Well we would have to cover the 3 weeks she does not work which is about 40hours a week at £7per hour. As we are already struggling to recruit we may have to get agency staff in which costs alot more. We are a small family run buisness, we care for the elderly in their own homes. The employees contract states she must give us 4 weeks notice & she's only gave us 1. We do not have enough time to replace her ?? She has breached her contract so am wondering if it is costly in sueing as we are a small buisness

Hello sorry my connection dropped earlier, just managed to resolve it. You say you will have to cover 40 hours a week at £7ph but how much would you have paid her to work that same amount of time, would it have been £7ph too?
