Ca you tell me if it is legal to distribute a transcript

This answer was rated:

hi, ca you tell me if it is legal for someone to distribute a transcript from a court hearing to your neighbours so they all know what has happened?

Which court?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Warrington Crown Court

I'm afraid that a transcript, once made available, is not confidential.

Any person would have been entitled to attend at that hearing as the Crown Court is a public court. Therefore they are entitled to know what was said there and certainly no duty of confidentiality is owed.

If there had been any incitement to do unlawful acts on the part of the neighbour as a result of what was said then that would be different but the mere act of showing a transcript is not unlawful I'm afraid.

Sorry if that is bad news.

Can I clarify anything for you?
