Customer Question

U.K. Based ;
Dear sir / madam . I am in need to advice and hopefully you may be able to help or point me in the direction.
I placed my 5 month old Shih Tzu named Levi in the care of a dog boarding kennal for a stay of ten days while I had to go overseas.
9 days later my dog was dead. The kennal owner admitted while she informed me that Levi had been attacked that the kennal wasn't secured . She admitted that she then went to the shops to purchase clips to secure her kennals. Due to there negligence and not correctly supervising Levi he ended up dead. Over the past few months we have been in contact with pet plan who cover the kennals business however the payout they have offered me is an insult.
I have informed the kennal that I will be taking legal action towards them. I need to know who I can contact about this as because of there
Negligence and misconduct in the care of Levi I my partner and whole family have been left hurt and heartbroken .
Please advise
Kindest regards

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this.

What is it you want to achieve?
How much do you want to claim?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hello Alex thank you for you're message .
I had asked them for £10,000. I mean Levi was £1950 the on top of that we're vet bills and his personal belongings the his cremation fees , it's hard to come to the amount cause Levi was priceless considering he was a member of our family. I was considering requesting a higher amount after being advised to go for around £20,000 however I personally have no idea . I came up to the £10,000 amount to cover the expenses paid on him and then compensation for the loss and damaged caused by the negligence by the dog boarding kennal . I want to take action against them , it's just bit of hard work finding someone that can help and start legal proceedings and sue them.

You need to write and set out your losses and request compensation within 14 days or say you will go to Court within 14 days. You should make sure you send this signed delivery and keep a copy.
If they do not compensate you then you can issue proceedings in the County Court. You can either do this online at: or by completing form N1 and take it to your local County Court.
The Court will then issue a claim which a copy will be sent to the Defendant who will have a limited time to defend it, if not you can enter Judgment and enforce.
If the claim is for £10,000 or less it will be a small claim so you will not need legal representation. Over this value you would need representation for trial.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
