i have received an NIP for speeding at 58mph in a 50mph area on a motorway. This was caught on a automatic camera device. The alleged offence was on June 9th but the NIP is dated 8th July. I received the NIP on July 11th.
Am I in a position to say the police are out of time and should cancel the NIP as they raised it after 21 days of my offence and way out of the 14 day allowance

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you.

Are you the registered keeper please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
my car is a company car so they are the registered keeper but my offence was on June 8th and they did not issue a NIP until 8th July so I reckon they are way out of the 14 day time limit in issuing the NIP never mind the fact I did not get it till July 11th. Can I ask them to cancel it as they are way over the 14 day limit in even raising a NIP?

I'm not sure how this web site works. I have deposited the £38 and was expecting an answer online to the above. Is the phone call at an extra cost above and beyond the £38? I think my case is fairly simple and could be answered online. Thanks

but you never had the NIP in your name?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The Nip was sent to my company as the car is in their name. I have been sent the form as I am the designated driver. I was driving at the time but have not filled in the form and admitted the offence because I believe they have processed their nip form 21 days after the alleged offence. Therefore can I tell them to cancel the Nip as it is time barred? Date of offence is 8th June. The issue date on their Nip form is July 8th!

That is July 8th to the company or YOU?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Offence recorded June 8th. nip dated July 8th received by us July 11th. I believe raising the Nip at 29 days makes it invalid? Please confirm my assessment

Yes, it's 14 days it needs to be served so it's invalid.

Can I clairfy anything for you about this today please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm going to send a letter saying it's invalid as beyond 14 days but I'm not filling in the Nip form accepting blame. Is this ok?

Yes, you just say it's out of time.

Does that clairfy? Alex
