My second husband passed away in 2012.He left his house to

Customer Question

My second husband passed away in 2012.He left his house to his two suns from a previous marriage.Their mother passed away in 1998.He had the house when I married him.It was on his first wife and his own name.
I looked after him when he was ill. I did whatever I could to make his life easier and we had quite a good marriage.I even gave up my job to be his carer as he did not want anyone else to look after him.
His sons want me to leave now. They said "enough is enough".
There is a will(they did not want to show it to me),but I found out what my husband wish was.He wanted me to live at the property one year only after his death. So I am still here after four years. My husband tried to change his mind and the last moment he wrote a codicil in which I was supposed to live here till my death. But, unbelievably, this codicil was not signed.Do you think I have any rights in this respect?

Thank you for your question

My name is Clare

I shall do my best to help you but I need some further informtaion first.

How long were you living with your late husband?

Where were you living prior to that?Do you know if Probate has been obtained?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I lived with my husband from 1999 till 2012.In 2000 we married. We were married when he passed away.
He was very happy to meet me after all the distress he had had when his wife passed away.
Before that I lived in London since 1998, coming in this country from an EU country.
I do not know anything about the Probate. My stepsons and their executor(their aunt) never tell me anything, after all I did for their father.
I am 62 years old and I cannot work because of my poor health.
Thank you for your help.

When you spoke to the solicitor did he explain that you might have a claim on the house?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
he told me that I could claim about £150,000 from the value of the house which is about £400,000.And obviously he let my stepsons know it.Kind regards.
