I divorced my husband 16 years ago, didn't take anything can I now put a claim in to get some of his private pension, he has two companies, he paid £300 PCM into his pension when I was married to him, which myself & our 2 children suffered from,

Thank you for your question

My name is Clare

I shall do my best to help you but I need some further information first

Which part of the Uk are you in?

When was the actual Petition issued?

Have you remarried?

Why did you not make a claim at the time?

Hello Clare
I'm in kent , my divorce was final in 2000, I remarried in 2000 for a short period, turned out he was just after a roof over his head, cost me to get him out of my house,

No I didn't make a claim at time of divorcing my husband as I didn't know I could, it's only now that I'm being told I should have,

Sorry - which ex are you wishing to claim against

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My first husband, the second husband was a short marriage that cost me to get him out,

I'm sorry but I thought I made it clear that I divorced him in 2000, I also had two children with him,
Then I only mentioned second husband when you asked if I had remarried?

I feared as much but wished to be certain

I am afraid that you can no longer make any claim at all against your first husband's pension - you lost any chance of doing so when you remarried.

I am sorry to have to give bad news.

Please ask if you need further details

That was a very expensive mistake marrying the second guy, he brought nothing to the marriage but cost me £12000 to divorce him

Sadly yes - but you are not alone in making such mistakes...
