Last December a company fitted a sidecar to my motorcycle

Customer Question

Last December a company fitted a sidecar to my motorcycle costing £1450. During the summer whilst riding in France one of the fittings cracked and broke causing the sidecar to dig into the ground and me to come to a very abrupt halt. The vehicle had to be recovered by breakdown service to the UK. The original company have now written to me quoting a figure of £1500 to repair it. Have I any legal claim or could I take this to a small claims court claiming service was not fit for purpose? I am a 70 year old pensioner and do not have that kind of money to spend again.

Why do they say they are not liable to repair it?
