Customer Question

We recently gave notice to our landlord as we had found a more suitable house to rent, we had been living in the property 2 years and had repeatedly reported problems with damp and leaks to the landlord. After we gave notice she turned very nasty and was very upset when (due to bad timing) I had to report further issues with the heating and leaks. our landlord then gave an untrue and malicious reference to the letting agent who was handling our application for the new house, the letting agent then sent this to the prospective landlord who promptly cancelled our application 3 weeks before we were due to move. Under advice from the agents I asked our existing landlord if we could stay and she said no. We lost £260 fee from the agents and then had to pay out a further £300 fee to a new agent for another house as we would've been homeless. The landlord then decided to retain all of our deposit as she made up a load of work that needed doing but has put the house on the market and isn't carrying out any of the work. Do we have a case against her or the agents?
