This answer was rated:

A tenant of my fast food outlet. Has gone bankrupt owing 6 months rent. Now I have a new tenant in place. The old tenant wants money for fixtures he put into the shop.
Where do I stand ?

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with your question today. I am reviewing it, please give me a moment.

How much are you owed and how much is the kit worth?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
He owes £2000. And wants £8000

As a bankrupt wouldnt any money he received go to his debtors

Yes. All his assets belong to the receiver. Not you or the tenant. As such they are not his to sell.

They belong to the receiver and as such no money can pass from you or your new tenant to him.

But the receiver may sell them to your tenant or Someoene else.

So the receiver may wish to remove them, which you can not object to.

Can I clarify anything for you about this today, please?

If not, I would appreciate a 5-star rating for my answer. If you need anything further I am available for a follow up at no extra cost.
