I was working at an accountants when i left uni, and had a training contract in place which said if i left i would have to pay back the course fees. I had to leave after around 11 months because of how I was being treated, so they are trying to recover the £2700 fees. But i dont know if they can do this because normally this clause is in place for after you complete the course to protect the business getting the worth, but i didnt even complete the course, so i got nothing from it and neither did the firm

Customer: when i left, they asked me to pay the full amount, which i said i couldnt afford, i then set up a payment plan for the minimum they would let me - £0 monthly x 12 months, £75 x 12 months and then £100 x 12 months, but when the payments went up to £75 i couldnt afford it any longer so cancelled my SO

It says that you are liable to repay the costs if you leave voluntarily.

You have said that you were forced to leave because if how you were treated and you may use this ground and argue that you were constructively dismissed as a result of their action such that you cannot be said to have left voluntarily and are therefore not liable to repay them anything.

If they do go to court, you may raise the above ground as a defence.
