Hi, welcome to JustAnswer. My name is*****’m a barrister with 12 years of experience and I am happy to help with your question today.
How can I help with this please?
You haven't actually asked a question. Also, please give me time to respond. In fact, you have been waiting for less than 15 mins.
This is not a chat service.
I would imagine that the issue is that he received a sentence of more than 12 months and so is liable to automatic deportation if he is a foreign national.
That is why they can't release him.
To be fair, they are talking to him because they told him that they could not release him for this reason.
How long he will remain in custody will depend apon the length of time it takes the immigration officials to arrange the deportation.
Can I clarify anything for you?
Yes, they might but it won't change the outcome Im afraid.
No problem and all the best.
