My mother died and named the solicitors as executors. They emailed me today wanting £500 to cover costs which I will get back as expenses. Trouble is I don’t have £500. Can this not be taken from my mothers bank account?

Hi there,

Yes certainly, the solicitors must exercise their powers as Trustees before their duties as a Solicitor - so therefore if you do not have the £500 payment, simply inform them so they can take make an alternative plan re payment. Remember, the Trustees must follow the deceased's wishes and exercise their duty given to them whether you make this payment or not.

I hope this helps and please leave positive feedback. If I can assist with anything else, please do let me know.

Kind regards,
