Deadlines for payment of compensation by an insurer in case

This answer was rated:

Deadlines for payment of compensation by an insurer in case of a stolen car
JA: What state are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: London, IG6
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: I have approval from the insurer for £ 20,800, but he is delaying payment.
The car was stolen on July 5, 2019
JA: Anything else you want the Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: The car was purchased with a financial lease from Toyota. The insurer has to pay about £ 17,000 to Toyota and the rest to me because I paid Toyota's installments. We call constantly, they promise to pay but do not pay.

Good morning. I will assist with your question - be aware this is an email not chat service.

who is this insurer?

what was the car and model - how old?

did you have GAP insurance?

and was the car recovered?

I paid, but I still haven't received an answer to my question.

I did try to call you earlier on as requested but I got a message that you had already had a telephone call. Have you spoken to anyone about this from Just Answer or not?

I did try to call you as requested just before 5 PM but there was no answer. I am off-line now until tomorrow but will pick this up then.

Meanwhile, there is absolutely no reason that this delay and you really need to complain to the Financial Ombudsman.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yesterday you promised to write me a letter to send to the insurance company, which must bring the money for the stolen car.
So far I have not received anything.Sincerely, ***** *****

I have this now.

Don’t forget to date the letter.

Dear Sirs,

Re: Theft claim. Your reference:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Policy number xxxx

Vehicle make: Toyota Prius Registration number xxxxxx

I write in respect of the above and further to previous correspondence.

In spite of the above vehicle being stolen on 5 July 2019, the police having failed to find it, and in spite of approval to pay the claim in the sum of GBP20,800, you are unreasonably failing to make a payment.

This letter is to put you on notice that having not have a satisfactory response to the claim or any correspondence within an eight week period, I now give you until Friday, 19 June 2020 at 4 PM to pay the claim in full, failing which I will refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman without further notice.

I have no intention of writing to you again or exchanging correspondence in respect of this before writing directly to the Ombudsman.

I trust that the involvement of the Ombudsman will not be necessary.

I look forward to receiving settlement of the claim by return.

Yours faithfully
