Ask a Law Question, Get an Answer ASAP!
Hello, how are you today?
My name is ***** ***** I am going to see if I can assist with your query. Let me just read your first post. I may need to ask you additional questions after I have read it, and if I do, they will appear in my next response. It is important you answer all the questions I ask, so that I have the information I need to give you an accurate response.
JA is a Q&A website, and this ‘chat’ is email based, which means responses may not be immediate. Do rest assured however, that I will be providing you with an answer to your query today.
The site will offer a phone call, this is automated and it is important for you to know that I do not make calls. I will answer your query online.
I'm sorry to hear you're having a difficult time. So your partner has been arrested, what was this for?
Okay, so what is your question about this?
Okay, please ask them.
So he is named on the baby's birth certificate?
Have you let him take the baby previously?
In that case you should stop contact if you have safeguarding concerns. This is what you will be advised to do if social services were notified that he has a child and they contact you.
If he doesn't like that you have stopped contact, then he can go to court and let the court assess whether he should be able to see the baby or not.
Yes, that's correct.
You can still go to Citizens Advice if you want to. It's up to you.
All you have to do is refuse the father contact. Tell him that his drug taking and arrest are safeguarding concerns and that if he wishes to see the child, you will be happy for him to do so in a supervised setting, and if he's not happy with that, that he can go to court. Then it is up to him whether he gets a supervised contact centre sorted out or applies to court.
You're very welcome.
Glad I could assist.
