JA is a Q&A website, and this ‘chat’ is email based, which means responses may not be immediate. Do rest assured however, that I will be providing you with an answer to your query today.
The site will offer a phone call, this is automated and it is important for you to know that I do not make calls. I will answer your query online.

Does your wife want you to return home?
Are the police now taking further action?
You will have to abide by any bail conditions that apply. Only once the police have finished their investigations and closed the case, with NFA, and removed your bail conditions, will you be able to return home.
Notwithstanding if your wife has applied for a non molestation order and an occupation order preventing you from returning. You will only know if she has done this once the order is served on you.
I think they probably decided you were being obtuse, as the 'next day' would typically mean after the morning, not a few minutes past midnight.
But do ask them on your return for interview on 24th.
No, the law says that words can have their ordinary every day meaning. 'Come back next day' would be interpreted by any reasonable person (the person the law uses to determine if something is reasonable) as being after the morning.
Can I clarify anything further for you before I go offline?
Unfortunately as they told you not to return, they arrested you again - so now you have to comply with the bail conditions.
