You will have to reset the iPad, there is no other way to remove this.

To do the reset

Connect the iPad to the computer and open itunes

Hold the power and home button down until you see

"iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode..."

Click Restore iPad, let this complete and it should now work

ive done what you said and it is still saying activate ipad . this ipad is currently linked to an apple id

ok, then you have to call Apple to remove the link on their servers as this is what is locking it, it is not the device itself.

You can call on 0844(NNN) NNN-NNNN

Once they have updated the server, it will then unlock the iPad for use.
